Or you’re doing the procrastination thing, not yet ready to tackle that project that you know you need to tackle tout suite. What to do, what to do… Forget the gossip sites and your 9 millionth cat video. Exercise your brain a little by going to a website called Sporcle. Sporcle is a trivia site that challenges you to take as many quizzes as you have time for, and compare your results with others who have taken the same quizzes. You can search for quizzes based on your interests, or simply do the quizzes of the day – and there are usually 8-10 new ones every day.

All major trivia categories are well covered (movies, sports, TV, music, geography, history, etc.), and there are a dizzying array of test styles.

Some ask you to simply type the right answer with no other help. Others offer multiple choices, but typically in “bunker” style in which one wrong answer “blows up” the quiz and ends it. Unusual delights include sorting quizzes in which you click correct answers from a large list in a predetermined order (such as former country, current country, mythical country, repeat), and “criteria” quizzes that require clicking only the answer that fits all of 10 criteria listed, then the one that fits the 9 remaining criteria, etc.

It can be addicting…but it also really can be a way to focus your mind and then get back to what you actually should be doing mentally refreshed. Yes, that’s it. Not a time-waster at all; just the opposite!  Let’s go with that.

And if you know what tout suite means, even better. It’s probably in a quiz somewhere.
