A photoshoot in 1969 captured a world-weary Beatles. That shoot at Tittenhurst Park proved to be their last day together as a full band.

At over seven minutes, “Hey Jude” was not the typical pop song. But it made history in more ways than one. And Ringo’s post-bathroom break was a part of it.

Assembled in a bit of a rush to appease their label (and a hungry American public), this collection holds together surprisingly well. From “Can’t Buy Me Love” to the epic title track, it showcases the Fab Four in a totally joyful way.

We don't think twice when we hear songs fade-out these days. But when did the fade-out first get used? This musical strategy has a long history.
