Before Prince did it, Parliament-Funkadelic spun off the funk in their "girl-group," the Brides of Funkenstein.

The "booty" is celebrated in the weirdest and most wonderful way in this 1979 release from Bootsy Collins.

Within a week, Parliament-Funkadelic released two powerful albums that defined the funk sound, circa 1974.

Even as he performed with George Clinton and P-Funk, Bootsy Collins stretched out in a series of classic albums of his own. The funk is strong in 'em.
